Position Overview – Irrigation TechnicianThe Irrigation Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing irrigation systems for residential and commercial clients. The ideal Irrigation Technician ensures optimal system performance, water efficiency, and exceptional customer service. This role may also include low‑voltage lighting work and occasional system installations.
Essential Duties – Irrigation Technician Maintenance & Repairs- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on irrigation systems
- Troubleshoot and repair pipes, valves, controllers, sprinkler heads, and all irrigation components
- Adjust and calibrate systems for proper water distribution
- Complete trenching and back filling for irrigation line installation
- Conduct efficient spring start‑ups, including system walk‑throughs and adjustments
- Perform accurate winterization services to prevent freeze damage
- Diagnose issues with water pressure, wiring, controllers, valves, and heads
- Use diagnostic tools such as station masters, voltage meters, wire toners, and valve locators
- Apply basic electrical knowledge related to irrigation systems and low‑voltage lighting
- Follow a simple, step‑by‑step troubleshooting process to maximize efficiency
- Greet customers on arrival and provide clear communication throughout the service
- Answer questions regarding irrigation systems, maintenance schedules, and water conservation
- Provide recommendations for needed repairs or system improvements
- Maintain accurate service records, including repairs, parts used, and customer interactions
- Provide clients with system notes, schedules, and recommendations
- Follow all safety protocols
- Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in excellent working condition
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred)
- Proven experience as an Irrigation Technician in installation, maintenance, and repair
- Strong knowledge of irrigation equipment, materials, and techniques
- Ability to operate and maintain irrigation tools and machinery
- Effective troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities
- Ability to read irrigation plans or as‑built drawings
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in tight spaces
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Outdoor work at residential, commercial, and agricultural locations
- Occasional evening or weekend work
