Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position requiring two years of ED RN experience and a GA or compact license.
Responsibilities- Position is in a 22-bed Emergency Department within a 140-bed hospital
- Patient census averages 85 per day with typical ED cases including chest pain, stroke, diabetes, abdominal pain, motor vehicle collisions, hypertension, and mental health
- RN patient ratios are 1:3-4 depending on zone
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
- Central telemetry monitoring in the ER with nurses responsible for reading strips
- 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am
- Weekend rotation requires at least 6 weekend shifts in each 6-week schedule cycle
- Holiday coverage requires one shift for each major holiday
- No on-call responsibilities or floating outside the ER
- Duties include drip management, nurse-drawn phlebotomy, telemetry strip reading, and care for a diverse emergency patient population
- Support from a unit secretary, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
- PICC coverage provided by IV/VAT team
- 1-day general facility orientation and 2-day departmental orientation provided
- Navy scrubs are required for RNs
- Team-oriented culture with long-term staff presence

- Manager approval is required for all time-off requests
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) certifications required
- At least 2 years of ED RN experience required
- Prior experience with Epic EMR and central telemetry monitoring preferred
- TNCC and national certification in emergency nursing preferred but not required
