Job Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to promote employee health and safety within the workplace, providing preventative care, and managing work-related injuries and illnesses. This role is to provide services at the Georgia War Veterans Home.
- Maintain employee health records and vaccines required during onboarding and yearly prerequisites.
- Demonstrate knowledge of techniques, procedures, and correct use of protective barrier equipment (Universal Precautions).
- Responsible for all pre-employment testing and vaccination processes, annual N95/TB/Influenza testing and/or vaccinations, and management of potential blood exposures, employee illnesses, and disease outbreaks.
- Evaluate programs and implement changes as necessary to improve programs and assure regulatory compliance.
- Communicate revised plans and changes to facility management and governing body.
- Participate in writing policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Complete necessary forms and reports, and submit to the Administrator as required.
- Teach CPR to qualified staff.
- Collaborate with other health professionals to address health issues and promote workplace wellness.
- Maintain accurate health records and prepare reports on employee health trends and program effectiveness.
- Maintain a strong understanding of workplace health and safety regulations.
- Develop and implement health promotion programs and educational initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and participate in facility surveys as necessary.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of health and safety programs and initiatives.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments and best practices in healthcare; develop policies and procedures for pre-employment and onboarding in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills; conduct employee safety rounding; assist with family and new employee tours.
- Perform admission chart pre-screenings and chart reviews; conduct medication cost analysis prior to admission as needed.
- Assist in Education/Orientation classroom and CPR instruction; provide QAPI information on employee health.
- Attend outside visits with the Behavior Team as needed; assist with calls to providers, case managers, and families.
- Act as a family/veteran liaison prior to and after admission up to 6 weeks; provide veteran education and consistent point of contact to ease anxiety during the adjustment phase.
- Sufficient previous experience in clinical health care including direct experience in quality assurance and performance improvement.
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action in a timely fashion.
- Strong teamwork and the ability to work harmoniously with others.
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the public.
- Leadership and supervisory ability and willingness to collaborate with other personnel.
- Patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and willingness to handle difficult residents and staff.
- Willingness to adopt new methods and principles into existing practices.
- Experience in performing healthcare assessments and reviewing patient charts.
- REQUIRED
EDUCATION: - Minimum of a two-year degree.
- Must be a Registered Nurse.
- WORKING CONDITIONS/
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Works in office areas as well as throughout the facility and its premises.
- Subject to frequent interruptions; involves residents, family members, personnel, and visitors under all conditions.
- Works beyond normal hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
