Position

Summary

The Pingry School seeks dynamic and collaborative educators for a co‑teaching position in our Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade classrooms for the 2026-27 school year. The ideal candidate is dedicated to fostering a caring, joyful, and innovative learning environment that nurtures the academic, social, and emotional growth of young learners. Successful candidates will demonstrate a deep understanding of child development, a commitment to differentiated instruction, and the ability to engage students through inquiry‑based, student‑centered teaching.

They will embrace reflective practices to improve their instruction and cultivate a positive, inclusive classroom culture. With strong interpersonal skills, the selected candidates will work in close collaboration with co‑teachers, specialists, and families to support the individual needs of all students. The ideal candidates possess a growth mindset, a commitment to professional development, and an eagerness to contribute meaningfully to the broader life of the school.

Beyond classroom responsibilities, educators in this role will engage in the school community through activities such as supporting arrival and dismissal duties, recess and lunch supervision, and participating in grade‑level and school‑wide events.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a Grade K-2 Homeroom Co‑Teacher.
  • Collaborate with a co‑teacher to plan, deliver, and assess engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons that meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of K-2 students.
  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning styles, abilities, and needs, ensuring an inclusive and equitable classroom environment.
  • Implement co‑teaching models (e.g., team, parallel, station teaching) to maximize student learning and support.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and nurturing classroom climate that promotes student agency, collaboration, and a love of learning.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction to support academic growth.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, encouraging curiosity, independence, and perseverance in their learning.
  • Collaborate regularly with colleagues, including specialists, support staff, and administrators, to address individual student needs and curriculum alignment.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with families, providing updates on student progress and classroom activities while fostering strong home‑school partnerships.
  • Integrate technology and other instructional tools to enhance learning experiences and meet 21st‑century learning goals.
  • Support students' social‑emotional development by incorporating Responsive Classroom practices such as morning meetings, reflective discussions, and conflict‑resolution strategies.
