About the Position
< p>
The Office Aide reports to the Management Analyst II and will provide a variety of clerical support and customer service in a fast‑paced, high‑touch environment. The ideal candidate will be able to multitask, respond to customer requests with professionalism and courtesy, and maintain a positive image of the Recreation Department.

Key Responsibilities
< ul>
< li>
Perform a variety of clerical support and receptionist duties; data input, answer phones, direct calls, take messages, greet public and provide general information for all Recreation department classes, programs, policies, and events.
< li>
Monitor all admittance to the facility, check required credentials and charge appropriate fees.
< li>
Calculate fees, charges and operate, balance cash register during and at end of shift.
< li>
Monitor guests' activities in the main lobby area and enforce all rules, regulations, and safety principles.
< li>
Assist in opening and closing procedures for the Community Center and the Aquatics & Fitness Center.
< li>
Handle services such as selling merchandise.
< li>
Speak English clearly and understandably.
< li>
Read and follow diagrams and instructions written in English.
< li>
Maintain accurate, organized records and files.
< li>
Interpret and apply policies and procedures.
< li>
Communicate clearly and concisely in English, both orally and in writing.
< li>
Deal effectively with other city personnel and the public.
< li>
Type at a speed necessary for successful job performance.
< li>
Operate office equipment (including computers, scanners, calculators, printers, and copiers).
< li>
Perform related and additional duties as needed.
< li>
Work independently in the absence of supervision.

Pre‑employment Conditions
< p>
Candidates receiving a conditional job offer must pass a pre‑placement fingerprint review and be comfortable calling 911 in an emergency.

Working Conditions
< p>
The job is performed in an indoor setting with extensive keyboard use, and requires movement within the Community Center and Aquatics & Fitness Center. The employee must also be able to move objects weighing up to 20 lbs. and communicate orally with the public either in person or by telephone.
