Cross‑train and become capable of performing multiple functions in our Wax environment. Operators classified at the “C” level will be proficient at
1) introductory and basic‑level wax pattern rework,
2) introductory‑level and intermediate‑level injection, and
3) introductory‑level and basic assembly functions.
Hot irons, clippers, smoothing wires, scalpels, angle tools, spacers, sprue holding fixtures, Bunsen burners, water welders, wax injection presses and equipment, wax dies, scotch brite and a variety of other common hand tools;
Motoman robot, assembly trays, hydrogen torch (bottled).
Sticktite, patching wax, cores, ceramic collars, plastic caps, wax patterns, lubricants, logbook, wax crayons, various wax apparatus, torch tips.

Working ProcedureThe following are the usual major job duties, but this job description does not preclude the performance of other duties as assigned by the supervisor:
- WAX Goal: The ultimate goal of a Wax Operator is to be cross trained for all jobs within the department. Operators are given the opportunity and will be expected to train with the goal of achieving “Wax Operator B” status.
- BASIC WAX INJECTION:
- How to operate a wax injection press
- Injection of gates, sprues, and simple wax patterns
- Inject more complex configurations with multiple inserts and slides
- Injection of larger and/or more delicate or detailed patterns; multiple dies and shoe dies.
- INTRODUCTORY WAX REWORK:
- Understanding the equipment and methods used to rework wax patterns
- Reworking simple wax configurations
- BASIC WAX REWORK:
- Basic rework procedures such as removing parting lines or positives
- Demonstrated ability to rework patterns through established procedures
- Learning to rework the more simple soluble wax configurations
- INTRODUCTORY ASSEMBLY / SUB ASSEMBLY
- Introduction to the tools and methods used in the sub‑assembly procedure
- Assembly of non‑production wax patterns, simple wax patterns, etc.
- BASIC ASSEMBLY / SUB ASSEMBLY
- Attaching simple production patterns to sprues
- Learn sub assembly of simple production patterns with less specialized gating.
