The General Counsel serves as the company’s chief legal officer and trusted advisor to executive leadership, providing practical, business-oriented legal guidance across all aspects of the organization’s global operations. This role is responsible for overseeing legal risk, ensuring regulatory and contractual compliance, and supporting the company’s strategic objectives across aerospace, defense, automotive, and industrial markets.

The General Counsel will balance legal rigor with commercial pragmatism, enabling the business to operate, grow, and compete effectively while managing risk in a highly regulated, multinational manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities Corporate & Strategic Legal Leadership
  • Serve as principal legal advisor to the President and executive leadership team on all legal matters affecting the company.
  • Support strategic initiatives including growth planning, new market entry, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate restructuring.
  • Provide legal risk assessment and guidance on major business decisions and capital investments.
Contracts & Commercial Transactions
  • Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and interpretation of customer, supplier, and partner agreements, including long-term supply agreements, NDAs, development agreements, and licensing arrangements.
  • Advise sales and business development teams on commercial terms, risk allocation, and contract strategy.
  • Establish contract standards and approval processes appropriate for a global manufacturing organization.
Regulatory, Compliance & Trade
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including export controls (ITAR/EAR), trade compliance, anti-bribery, competition law, and data protection.
  • Advise on regulatory requirements applicable to aerospace, defense, automotive, and industrial customers.
  • Oversee internal compliance programs, training, and investigations as required.
Corporate Governance & Ethics
  • Support corporate governance activities, including board matters, corporate records, and subsidiary governance.
  • Advise on corporate policies, codes of conduct, and ethics programs.
  • Manage outside counsel relationships and legal spend effectively.
  • Provide legal guidance on employment and labor matters across multiple jurisdictions, including employee relations, terminations, and compliance with local labor laws.
  • Support HR leadership on compensation, benefits, executive agreements, and workplace policies.
  • Oversee litigation, claims, and dispute resolution, including insurance coordination where applicable.
Intellectual Property & Confidentiality
  • Protect the company’s intellectual property, trade secrets, and proprietary manufacturing processes.
  • Advise on IP strategy, licensing, and confidentiality obligations with customers and partners.
  • Support innovation initiatives while ensuring appropriate legal protections are in place.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 12+ years of relevant legal experience, including a combination of law firm and in-house roles preferred.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, aerospace, defense, or automotive businesses in a multinational environment.
  • Strong background in commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide practical, business-focused legal advice to executive leadership.
  • Experience managing outside counsel and legal budgets.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
  • Sound legal judgment with strong business acumen
  • Ability to assess risk pragmatically and recommend actionable solutions
