Key Responsibilities:
This role includes managing the daily operation of heat treat activities, including scheduling workloads, maintaining and optimizing equipment, and ensuring compliance with metallurgy specifications and safety protocols. The manager will lead and develop a team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance.
A critical part of the role is collaboration with cross‑functional teams including engineering, quality, and supply chain, to ensure the timely delivery of high‑quality products. The manager is also responsible for overseeing preventative maintenance programs, supporting Nadcap heat treat audits, and ensuring adherence to all environmental and safety regulations.
Process improvement is a continuous priority, with a focus on monitoring key performance indicators, reducing waste, improving efficiency, and optimizing resource utilization. The manager will also be actively involved in training, coaching, and evaluating team members to support employee development and succession planning. Regular presence on the production floor is expected to maintain close engagement with operations.
Additional Duties:This role may include other responsibilities as needed to support business goals and operational success.
Qualifications:The position requires substantial experience in heat treat operations within a manufacturing setting, particularly with small parts production. A strong understanding of heat treat equipment such as furnaces and quench systems, along with in‑depth knowledge of metallurgy and related processes, is essential.
A background in industries such as aerospace, automotive, or heavy industrial manufacturing is highly beneficial. Familiarity with quality and process standards including ISO 9001, AS9100, and NADCAP, as well as lean manufacturing principles, is important.
While a bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred, equivalent experience will also be considered. The successful candidate will bring a balance of hands‑on mechanical aptitude and administrative capability, along with excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
Compensation for this role would pay between $120k-$145k with a complete benefit package including health, life, dental and vision insurance and a bonus plus 401k match. Relocation also if you qualify.
