Position OverviewThe Design Engineer II independently executes mechanical design tasks supporting precision electronic packaging and electro-optical system development. This role focuses on component-level ownership and close collaboration with ASR’s Analysis Engineering team.
Responsibilities- Design precision components and subassemblies with minimal supervision.
- Develop detailed CAD models and production drawings.
- Perform tolerance stack-ups and alignment analyses.
- Design for manufacturability, thermal management, vibration resistance, and environmental robustness.
- Collaborate with analysis engineers by providing clean geometry, defined load paths, material selections, and boundary condition assumptions.
- Interpret FEA results and apply feedback to design refinements.
- Support prototype builds and environmental qualification testing.
- Participate in client-facing technical discussions as appropriate.
- Occasional travel required.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineeringor related field.
- 2–5 years of mechanical design experience.
- Experience in precision assemblies, electronic packaging, or electro-optical systems preferred.
- Working knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
- Familiarity with FEA workflows (hands-on ANSYS modelingnotrequired).
- Strong foundation in mechanics and materials.
- Experience developing and building prototype hardware, including exposure to manufacturing processes and hands-on machinery or tooling preferred.
