Position Overview

The Senior Design Engineer owns complete mechanical design programs from concept through release. This leadership-track role includes responsibility for technical direction, client engagement, mentorship, and long-term contribution to the growth of the firm.

Responsibilities
  • Architect precision mechanical systems and packaging solutions.
  • Lead full design lifecycle efforts across complex, multi-disciplinary programs.
  • Define system-level strategies for structural integrity, thermal stability, and environmental robustness.
  • Provide analysis-ready designs and collaborate closely with the analysis engineering team tovalidateand iterate solutions.
  • Lead internal and client-facing design reviews.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support development efforts.
  • Contribute to proposals, client growth, and strategic initiatives.
  • Represent ASR at industry conferences and technical forums.
  • Occasional travel required.
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 8–12 years of precision mechanical design experience.
  • Strong background in electronic packaging or electro-optical systems preferred.
  • Advanced GD&T and tolerance analysis capability.
  • Experience working in aerospace or other high-reliability industries preferred.
  • Demonstrated project ownership and client interaction.
  • Experience leading or supporting prototype hardware builds with direct exposure to manufacturing and hands-on tooling environments preferred.

The Senior Design Engineer role represents a leadership-track position within the firm.
