Position OverviewThe Senior Design Engineer owns complete mechanical design programs from concept through release. This leadership-track role includes responsibility for technical direction, client engagement, mentorship, and long-term contribution to the growth of the firm.
Responsibilities- Architect precision mechanical systems and packaging solutions.
- Lead full design lifecycle efforts across complex, multi-disciplinary programs.
- Define system-level strategies for structural integrity, thermal stability, and environmental robustness.
- Provide analysis-ready designs and collaborate closely with the analysis engineering team tovalidateand iterate solutions.
- Lead internal and client-facing design reviews.
- Mentor junior engineers and support development efforts.
- Contribute to proposals, client growth, and strategic initiatives.
- Represent ASR at industry conferences and technical forums.
- Occasional travel required.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 8–12 years of precision mechanical design experience.
- Strong background in electronic packaging or electro-optical systems preferred.
- Advanced GD&T and tolerance analysis capability.
- Experience working in aerospace or other high-reliability industries preferred.
- Demonstrated project ownership and client interaction.
- Experience leading or supporting prototype hardware builds with direct exposure to manufacturing and hands-on tooling environments preferred.
The Senior Design Engineer role represents a leadership-track position within the firm. High‑performing senior engineers who demonstrate sustained technical leadership, mentorship, and client impact may be considered for ownership participation as part of the firm’s long‑term growth and succession planning.
