Position OverviewThe Design Engineer III leads substantial portions of precision mechanical programs and begins assuming system-level ownership. This role bridges independent execution and technical leadership while maintaining a strong focus on design excellence.
Responsibilities- Lead design of complex assemblies and system-level layouts.
- Define load paths, interface strategies, and material selections.
- Drive tolerance strategy and alignment stability planning.
- Collaborate closely with the Analysis Engineering team to ensure structural, thermal, and dynamic performance requirements are met.
- Review analysis results and drive iterative design improvements.
- Participate in client-facing design reviews.
- Mentor Engineer I and II team members.
- Contribute to internal process improvements and technical standards.
- Occasional travel required.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 5–8 years of precision mechanical design experience.
- Strong background in electronic packaging or electro-optical systems preferred.
- Advanced GD&T and tolerance analysis capability.
- Experience working in aerospace or other high-reliability industries preferred.
- Experience developing and building prototype hardware, including exposure to manufacturing processes and hands‑on machinery or tooling preferred.
- Hybrid work environment based in Milford, CT
- Remote eligibility after 6 months based on demonstrated strong performance
