Student Care Worker – Individualized Learning Centers (ILC SCW)

New Milford Public Schools

• Academic Calendar 185 Days, Extended School Year 23 Days

Responsibilities
  • Provide instructional support across general and special education classes.
  • Implement individualized behavioral prevention and management strategies.
  • Collect and maintain ongoing behavioral data.
  • Assist with student hygiene routines (i.e., toileting).
  • Communicate proactively and consistently with the student’s school team.
  • Work specified school hours and attend all required meetings and trainings.
  • Demonstrate experience in de-escalation techniques or be willing to be trained.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervising Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA).
Qualifications
  • Must meet Federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) para educator standards:
    • High School diploma or GED diploma AND
      • Two years of college credit OR
      • An Associate’s (or higher) degree OR
      • Pass the State Board of Education adopted para education assessment (Para Pro) which assesses content knowledge in mathematics, reading, writing and an understanding of how to assist in the instructions of these topics.
  • Previous experience working in a public school setting.
  • Excellent professionalism and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated responsibility, reliability, and dependability.
  • Ability to safely perform physical restraint techniques when necessary.
  • Must have a valid CT driver’s license and maintain active vehicle insurance.
