Assistant Director of Nursing, RN (ADON) assists Director of Nursing (DON) with coordinating all aspects of patient/family care and support and facilitates communication and interaction among personnel providing services to terminally ill patients.

Position

Assistant Director of Nursing, RN (ADON) assists Director of Nursing (DON) with coordinating all aspects of patient/family care and support and facilitates communication and interaction among personnel providing services to terminally ill patients.

Pay

$68,000 - $75,000 yearly depending on experience. Eligible for benefits within 60 days.

Responsibilities
  • Assist DON with coordination of the patient care aspects of the Hospice Program and the Interdisciplinary Team (IDG).
  • Ensure referral/admission process is completed within Caris Health Care’s customer service standards.
  • Assist DON with assignment of patient care staff based on competency of available personnel.
  • Assist DON to assure that nursing services delivered by hospice employees and individuals employed through contractual agreements are provided in accordance with established policies of the hospice.
  • Assist DON with supervision of periodic reviews of patient medical records, employee visits, and daily activity reports to assure conformance with agency standards, licensure requirements, and professional community health nursing standards.
  • Assist DON with planning of team conferences and IDG meetings.
  • Assist DON and ADM with recruitment, hires, and directing the training of field staff in coordination with the Support Center. Demonstrates effective counseling skills in employee relations.
  • Assist DON to assure the delivery of needed and appropriate services in accordance with agency and government policies through effective supervision of hospice staff, ensuring competent, well-trained personnel by identifying skill, needs and subsequent recommendation of educational and developmental activities.
  • Ensure deviations from policy are reported through the occurrence reporting process, with necessary follow‑up steps taken to ensure compliance.
  • Responsible for compliance with the Caris safety and disaster plans in the event of emergencies, disaster, etc.
  • Ensure employees are trained on occupational exposure upon hiring and prior to initial assignment to tasks where occupational exposure may occur, and ensures training is conducted on the exposure control plan annually or as needed.
  • Assist DON to handle staff, physicians, patient, inter‑departmental complaints, and problems, providing accurate and timely follow‑up, and documents problems and complaints per company policy.
  • Assist DON to complete systematic collection, review, and evaluation of data pertaining to hospice aspects of care and in accordance with the agencies’ performance improvement plan.
  • Exhibit knowledge of labor relations, laws, and regulatory issues. Monitor and report Worker's Compensation claims in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
Qualifications
  • Current licensed RN in state of operation.
  • One (1) year of healthcare experience: hospice, palliative care, oncology, or home health preferred.
  • A working knowledge of the objectives, framework, organization, and function of a hospice program as well as programs offered by different payors including Medicare, Medicaid, Private Insurance is preferred.
  • Proficient computer and technology skills.
