Cibola County Corrections

Senior Transportation Officer (after 6‑9 months on average based on performance)

Hourly rate: $28.21

Sign‑On & Bonuses
  • Sign on bonus: $3,500
  • Safety & Performance Bonus: up to $500 quarterly and $1,000 once promoted
  • Referral bonus per person: $2,500 (no cap)
  • Guaranteed 40‑hour paycheck minimum per week.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Willing to work changing hours.
  • Must be 21 or older.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Valid Class A or B driver's license OR corrections/security/military police/law enforcement/related experience.
Training Requirements
  • Willing to travel to Nashville, TN for a 3‑week paid training program (costs paid).
  • Annual recertification and in‑service training.
Summary

This position is responsible for the safe and secure management of the inmate, detainee, and/or resident population and trip movement, following sound correctional and transportation industry practices.

Growth Opportunities

After 3‑6 months, eligible to take Officer In Charge test and be promoted to Senior Transportation Officer, with hourly rate increase and quarterly bonus up to $1,000.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for safe and orderly operation of assigned trip.
  • If qualified, may be assigned as Assistant Officer in Charge.
  • Monitor and supervise inmate, detainee, and/or resident activity per policy.
  • Follow safety practices and report injuries or incidents.
  • Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and briefings.
  • Maintain communication with Trip Management and other supervisors.
  • Complete preventive maintenance of equipment.
  • Ensure effective management of medications and property.
  • Maintain relationships with staff, agencies, inmates, etc.
  • Apply restraints and use of force per policy.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • Must maintain Officer in Charge certification for AOIC assignment.
Education

High School or better.
