Surface Maintenance Mechanic LEADER; TITLE Security Clearance

Position: SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER (TITLE 32) with Security Clearance
Duties As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER (TITLE 32), WL-5801-10, you will serve as a working leader of three or more Surface Maintenance Mechanics, WG-5801-10. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:
* Assign work orders to specific crew members and select workers for various jobs on the basis of knowledge, skills, and abilities.
* Pass on to workers instructions received from the supervisor, demonstrates proper work methods, and starts work.
* Insure that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
* Assure that there is enough work to keep the work crew busy.
* Troubleshoot, perform maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles.
* Make repairs to assemblies and components such as voltage regulators, generators/alternators, brake cylinders, etc.
* Troubleshoot equipment and diagnose the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks and/or uses test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges, and computer diagnostic tools.
* Utilize embedded diagnostics in equipment and a wide variety of original equipment manufacturer system analyzers in order to determine the exact nature or extent of repair.
* Determine what adjustments may be necessary to complete work orders, and whether any additional repairs other than those specified or indicated on the work order are necessary. Requirements Conditions of employment
* This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the Illinois National Guard and in the military grade listed in the announcement. * Selectee will be required to wear a military uniform.
* Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

* This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

* Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
* Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Qualifications AREA OF CONSIDERATION:
The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), the only area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. Military Grades:
Enlisted/Warrant Officer - E5-CW2 GENERAL EXPERIENCE : MUST possess experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and can use common tools and equipment in the line of work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : WL-10 Level MUST possess, in addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series;
