A Style Consultant is passionate about strong operations and providing an incredible guest experience, bringing the energy of style to life with in-store presentations that enable quick and easy self-discovery. Style Consultants welcome and help guests on the sales floor and in the fitting room, ensuring the floor is stocked with the right product, accurately priced and signed with the right sizes, styles, and colors.

At Target, we believe in meaningful experiences that help team members build skills for a career. The role of a Style Consultant can provide you with the skills and experiences of:

• Guest service fundamentals and a guest-first culture across the store
• Retail business basics including department sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing and promotions, and basic visual merchandising
• Industry trends including style, seasonality, and brand differentiation
• Set, fill, and price the floor according to what is most important to the guest

Typical responsibilities

• Drive sales and maintain a guest-ready floor by executing visual standards, inspirational and promotional signing, and staying knowledgeable on assortment and brand offerings to assist guests
• Use store tools to understand sales and inventory ownership, and support guest needs
• Sort freight, move freight to the sales floor, and locate merchandise in the backroom
• Set visual presentations and merchandising guides to support guest experience and sales
• Maintain product availability and a full floor by executing fills and merchandising to capacity
• Maintain backroom organization to support replenishment, fulfillment, and guest requests
• Remerchandise presentations as styles sell through to deliver an inspiring shopping experience
• Support price changes and clearance merchandising with signing
• Maintain and use fitting rooms to welcome, inspire, and help guests
• Support fulfillment and guest needs by moving merchandise from fitting rooms and guest service back to the sales floor
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance; work safely and report hazards
• Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pickup, and Drive-up with compliance to laws
• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests and assisting with their needs
• Thank guests and show appreciation for their shopping
• All other duties based on business needs

Skills and knowledge

• Interest and knowledge of apparel products and accessories
• Welcoming attitude toward guests and team members
• Ability to communicate on multiple devices and operate scanners and other tech
• Effective communication, ability to work independently and in a team
• Resolve guest questions quickly and stay focused in a fast-paced environment

Basic job basics

• Handle cash register operations as needed
• Climb ladders; scan, move merchandise safely; lift up to 15 pounds frequently and up to 44 pounds occasionally
• Flexible schedule; reliable attendance
• Work in varying temperatures and environments; stay mobile for shift duration
