Position: Parts Outbound Team Leader (Parts Distribution Centre) - Gauteng
Remuneration: Market Related dependent on skill set, knowledge, and experience

Purpose Of The Job:

A top selling brand, OEM requires an Outbound Team Leader who will be responsible for the supervision and coordination of all outbound warehouse activities within the Distribution Centre. The role ensures the accurate, safe, and timely picking, packing, staging, and dispatch of automotive parts to dealers, service centres, and customers in accordance with OEM service level agreements.
The incumbent will drive operational excellence through adherence to warehouse processes, inventory accuracy, safety compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives while leading a high-performing outbound team.

Responsibilities:
Outbound Operations Management
  • Oversee the end-to-end outbound process including wave planning, picking, packing, staging, and dispatch
  • Ensure all orders are processed and dispatched in line with OEM delivery schedules and customer SLAs
  • Monitor order backlogs and proactively manage priorities to prevent delays
  • Coordinate with transport planning and logistics teams to ensure timely vehicle loading and dispatch
  • Ensure correct load configuration and route sequencing for deliveries
Team Leadership and Workforce Management
  • Supervise and lead outbound warehouse personnel to ensure optimal productivity and quality standards
  • Conduct daily shift briefings outlining operational targets, safety reminders, and priorities
  • Monitor team productivity against defined KPIs and implement corrective actions where required
  • Manage attendance, discipline, and performance in line with company HR policies
Inventory Accuracy and Quality Control
  • Ensure accurate picking and packing to maintain high order fulfilment accuracy rates
  • Investigate and resolve picking errors, stock discrepancies, and damages
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of sensitive automotive components including electronic parts and fragile items
  • Work closely with Inventory Control and Inbound teams to maintain stock integrity
Health, Safety, and Compliance
  • Enforce strict compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and internal safety standards
  • Ensure safe operation of material handling equipment
  • Conduct regular warehouse safety inspections and audits
  • Promote a strong safety culture through training and awareness initiatives
Warehouse Systems and Reporting
  • Utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to manage outbound order processing
  • Monitor system-generated reports relating to order status, picking performance, and shipment accuracy
  • Prepare daily and weekly operational reports for management
  • Escalate operational risks, delays, or system issues impacting service delivery
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify process inefficiencies and support lean warehouse initiatives
  • Implement best practices to improve productivity, reduce picking errors, and optimize space utilization
  • Participate in process improvement projects and operational reviews
  • Drive adoption of standardized operating procedures (SOPs)
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
The Outbound Team Leader will be measured against the following operational metrics:
  • Order Fulfilment Accuracy (target typically >99%)
  • On-Time Dispatch Performance
  • Lines Picked Per Hour
  • Order Cycle Time
  • Picking Error Rate
  • Safety Incident Rate
  • Labour Productivity
  • Warehouse Housekeeping and 5S Compliance
Minimum Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Grade 12 / Matric (required)
  • Diploma or Certificate in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Warehouse Management preferred
  • Minimum 4–6 years warehouse experience
  • Minimum 2–3 years supervisory experience
  • Experience with in automotive parts distribution or OEM environment preferred
  • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Inventory management and stock control
  • Warehouse productivity management
  • Logistics coordination
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Material handling equipment knowledge
