Are you a dedicated Dev Ops professional with a knack for automation and a passion for maintaining system stability? We are looking for a Junior Dev Ops Engineer to join our team. In this role, you won't just be "maintaining" systems—you’ll be designing the automation, monitoring, and disaster response strategies that keep our software resilient and our delivery pipeline seamless.


Main Purpose of the Role

As a Junior Dev Ops Engineer you will be responsible for the delivery and support of production software systems. You will design and implement automation for operational aspects (monitoring, disaster response) while managing availability, performance, and change management within a Dev Ops team, ensuring standards are maintained.


Key Performance Areas

Software Delivery Management

  • Plan and manage the delivery of quality software on time.
  • Plan what you will be delivering and when.
  • Provide daily progress updates indicating progress, risks and issues.
  • Release software adhering to the software release process.
  • Take ownership of your delivery and do what you promised and committed to.

Review business requirements & technical specifications

  • Take accountability for automation software designs
  • Deliver safe and secure designs that mitigate risks.
  • Deliver designs that meet business requirements

Develop Automation Tools

  • Deliver quality automation tools that:
  • Automate testing, build, deployment and monitoring processes
  • Adhere to coding standards
  • Apply best practices
  • Ensure continuity of support by means of documentation and accurate release notes.

Support Production Systems

  • Provide 2nd line productions support and monitor production for improvements:
  • Resolve critical issues escalated by 1st line support.
  • Provide accurate feedback to helpdesk.
  • Perform any software changes with the necessary urgency.
  • Continuously improve observability to ensure the uptime and reliability of our applications
  • Weekly Statistics for the product you are assigned

Health and Safety

  • Participate in the design/ development/ review/ implementation and monitoring of the branch /region /national safety plans for each year.
  • Participate in safety forums created by company for example safety
  • meetings and safety talks
  • Report all safety incidents to the relevant people
  • Discuss all safety incidents on all levels
  • Follow-up on any activities assigned through safety meeting/ committee/ representative/ management
  • Attend safety education and refresher programmes
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures at workplace
  • Distribute safety information as and when required
  • Wear protective clothing all the time

Information Security

  • Comply with all Information Security policies, procedures, and training requirements.
  • Immediately report any suspected or confirmed information security incidents.
  • Protect company data and confidential information from unauthorised access or disclosure.
  • Use company systems, email, and devices responsibly, avoiding suspicious links or unauthorised software.
  • Adhere to secure document handling, storage, and disposal practices at all times.


Ideal Candidate:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification with a preference (but not limited to) a degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
  • Minimum 1–2 years in a Dev Ops role.
  • Coding: Proficiency in C# or Java, with a solid grasp of Object-Oriented Programming, Design Patterns, and SOLID principles.
  • Database Expertise: Strong experience in Relational Databases, specifically MySQL and MSSQL Server.
  • Data & Integration: Experience with ORM frameworks and RESTful APIs.
  • Infrastructure & Networking: Knowledge of IPv4 networking, web protocols, and Microservices/SOA.
  • Tools: Proficient with Git, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Gradle, Artifactory), and Agile tools (JIRA).

Skills & Attributes

  • Reporting
  • Monitoring and alerting tools
  • Java application build processes and tools (CI/CD, including Ant, Gradle, Jenkins, and Artifactory)
  • Knowledge of IPv4 networking, web protocols
  • Knowledge and experience in microservices or service-oriented
