An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Application Development Manager to join a leading JSE-listed financial services organisation known for consistent growth, innovation, and market leadership. This role offers the chance to work at the heart of a large-scale digital transformation, partnering closely with business stakeholders to deliver high-impact technology solutions that enhance client journeys and operational efficiency.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping, designing, and delivering transactional websites, line-of-business systems, and enterprise applications that support both current operations and future digital ambitions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a strategic technology leader responsible for planning, organising, monitoring, and controlling all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Lead the development of new strategic applications while overseeing the maintenance and enhancement of existing systems.
  • Serve as the technical owner for a defined portfolio of applications, ensuring alignment with business objectives and long-term scalability.
  • Facilitate regular engagement between business stakeholders and delivery teams to prioritise initiatives and build consensus.
  • Manage relationships with business owners, ensuring that functional requirements are accurately translated into robust technical solutions.
  • Ensure adequate resourcing by securing and managing skilled technical specialists across delivery portfolios.
  • Oversee projects or work streams within larger programmes related to the application portfolio.
  • Ensure applications remain responsive to evolving client needs throughout their lifecycle.
  • Design, extend, and optimise operational and delivery processes to support efficiency and quality.
  • Manage third‑party vendor relationships, including commercial agreements and service delivery performance.
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members, taking accountability for performance management and capability growth.
  • Contribute to broader IT and business strategy formulation.
  • Drive continuous improvement across development practices, tools, and operating environments.
  • Ensure security is embedded across all technology solutions and delivery processes.
  • Manage audit, risk, and compliance requirements, ensuring adherence to regulatory and governance standards.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (BCom Informatics, BSc, BEng or equivalent).
  • Certification in Agile or a comparable modern development methodology.
  • ITIL or equivalent certification.
  • Proven experience managing Scrum teams within a complex enterprise environment.
