Senior Accountant

Responsibilities

• Planning and managing weekly and monthly expectations and deliverables required
• Managing and overseeing daily and monthly processing in the financial accounting system
• Overseeing portfolio budget compilation
• Monitoring and tracking performance against budget and preparing variance reports
• Assisting with VAT reporting and collating the organizations BBBEE (Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment) reports
• Compiling weekly cash flows
• Recommending financial actions for the organization by analysing accounting options, identifying trends and risks and providing solutions
• Reconciling financial discrepancies
• Maintaining good working relationships with external parties including banks and various payment portal providers.
• Assisting with the roll-out and implementation of system updates, processes, enhancements and projects
• Participating in audit processes (internal and external), providing relevant information and supporting to auditors with queries
• Maintaining financial system including the management of the integrity of data
• Ensuring that performance objectives are set and managed for the Junior Accountant
• Conducting performance reviews and development plans in accordance with policies and procedures
• Acting as the escalation point on the system to support finance related issues that arise.

• Minimum 3+ years’ experience as Financial Accountant OR 3-years management experience.
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Experience in Risk Management
• Advanced in Report Writing
• Strong leadership skills
• Committed to ethical conduct, confidentiality, and professionalism

• B.Com Accounting (or similar)
• SAIPA/ SAICA articles articles OR CIMA qualified
