Job Description

An established and reputable Environmental Consulting Company is seeking an Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) to join their team and support a diverse portfolio of environmental impact assessment projects across the Western Cape. The role will range from a sub‑contract, project to project basis to full time for a successful candidate. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) processes, compiling and submitting environmental applications, and preparing high‑quality reports in accordance with the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA).

The role includes liaising with clients, specialists and regulatory authorities, conducting site inspections and coordinating specialist studies. Experience in Water Use Licence Applications and associated water use processes will be advantageous. This position is suited to a person who holds at a minimum, three years’ experience or more in the Environmental Assessment field, with a proven track record of previous projects.

Professionally Registered EAPs will be prioritised, however consideration will be given to EAPs who are not yet registered but have proven experience in the field.

Qualifications/Experience Required
  • Current Registration with EAPASA is preferred. Candidate EAPs or EAPS with a strong career record may be considered.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Management, Environmental Science or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ proven experience in environmental consulting and EIA processes.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEMA, Specific Environmental Management Acts (SEMAs), and associated regulations, guidelines and policies.
  • Excellent report writing, attention to detail, professional communication and English language skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, coordinate specialist inputs and meet deadlines and project deliverables.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge in GIS (QGIS) for mapping and spatial analysis will be advantageous.
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel for site inspections and project requirements will be advantageous.
  • SACNASP registration not essential but considered beneficial.
