Key Role
Experience as a Civil Engineer with exposure to Bridges and Civil Structures is required for this role based in Midrand or Cape Town with projects across the Transport & Infrastructure business unit. The Incumbent will utilize their qualifications and experience in Bridge and Structural Engineering to work within a team of professional engineers and technologists in delivering projects related to reinforced concrete, bridges, culverts etc.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
Design and Technical Delivery
- Lead the conceptual and detailed design of bridges and related structural components in compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Perform structural analysis and calculations to ensure safety, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare design drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Review and approve designs prepared by junior engineers or external consultants.
Client Liaison and Project Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and strong relationships throughout project delivery.
- Manage project planning, execution, and monitoring to meet client expectations and organizational standards.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs within budget.
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration
- Interface effectively with professionals from other disciplines (traffic, civil, planning, geotechnical, etc.) to deliver integrated solutions for diverse projects.
- Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams.
Team Development and Growth
- Support the growth and development of the Structures Engineering team.
- Collaborate with divisional and project directors to align strategic goals.
- Engage with clients to identify opportunities, expand service offerings, and secure new work.
Health and Safety
- Role model standards for SHEQ performance and behaviour consistent with the company’s health, safety, environmental and quality vision and policies by influencing those around you
- Contributing to the identification of SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero Harm

Qualifications and Experience
Required:
- BEng or BSc Civil Engineering
- Must be a registered Candidate Engineer with ECSA
- Professional Engineer with ECSA – highly advantageous
- 5+ years’ experience in a similar role
- Experience working on large, infrastructure projects (Culverts and Bridge)
- Registered culvert inspector
