Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neonatal ICU position requiring at least 3 years of recent NICU experience and current BLS and NRP certifications.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a 10-bed Level III NICU caring for infants 28 weeks gestation and above

• No surgical patients or babies requiring nitric oxide or high frequency ventilation

• Night shift schedule is 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with every other weekend and major holiday coverage required

• Possible floating within the New Life Center or to other NICU units

• Call requirement is up to 24 hours in a 6-week period

• Equipment used includes bubble CPAP, ventilators, umbilical lines, PIVs, arterial sticks, and Alaris/Medfusion IV pumps

• Epic EMR system is used

• Responsibilities include advanced neonatal care procedures such as bubble CPAP, vents, umbilical lines, arterial sticks, heel sticks, and blood draws

• Staff must be comfortable with peripheral IV insertion and working with a range of vents and IV pumps

• Candidates must be willing to float as needed

• Holiday and every other weekend coverage is required

• First-time travelers may be considered

• Scrub color or attire will be specified during orientation

• Radius rule: local candidates living within 50 miles are not eligible

Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license required

• Current BLS and NRP certifications required

• Minimum of 3 years NICU RN experience is required

• Strong neonatal assessment skills and experience with neonatal resuscitation

• Proof of address demonstrating residence greater than 50 miles from the facility required

• Must pass EKG test on first day with up to two attempts (study guides provided)

• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
