Job Summary

The RN Float Pool assesses, analyzes, plans, implements and evaluates patient care following established standards. The primary function is to be available and flexible to float across various departments, sites, and markets within the organization to provide patient care, which may include scheduling or staffing assignments, travel, or seasonal patterns. The RN works with a clinical manager or designee in accordance with the Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse.

Essential

Functions
  • Floats based on tiers:
    • Tier 1 – single site based on competency
    • Tier 2 – multiple sites within a single market based on competency
    • Tier 3 – multiple sites across more than one market based on competency
  • Demonstrates awareness of and supports departmental and operating unit goals; participates in continuous quality improvement and departmental activities.
  • Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department.
  • Incorporates the professional practice model into care delivery.
  • Plans and coordinates nursing care and clinical decisions using the best available evidence.
  • Forms and implements a plan of care for each patient, including interventions, evaluation of response to interventions, and documentation as appropriate to condition and age.
Education
  • Associate’s in Nursing (required)
  • Bachelor’s of Nursing (BSN) – preferred
Licensing & Certifications
  • Current nursing license in the designated state of employment (required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS – AHA) – required based on specialty assignment
Experience
  • 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in acute care (required)
