We are seeking a board-certified Gastroenterologist for a locum tenens assignment in Virginia. This opportunity begins on Jan 9, 2026, and spans 48 days, providing weekend hospital call coverage from Friday at 5 p.m. to Monday at 7 a.m. The role involves advanced endoscopic procedures and a diverse range of GI interventions.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Perform esophageal dilatation and manometry
• Interpret esophageal manometry studies
• Conduct small bowel biopsies
• Perform lower GI endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy
• Conduct liver biopsies
• Insert and manage Sengstaken/Blakemore tubes
• Perform endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
• Conduct upper GI endoscopy: biopsy, foreign body removal, fulguration of bleeder (cautery or laser), injection and banding of varices, and ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography)
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy)

Additional Information

• Board certification in Gastroenterology required
• VA medical license required
• Flu shot required; COVID vaccine highly preferred
• Must be available to cover open shifts to be considered
• Clean malpractice history required for temporary privileges
• Proficiency in ERCP required; EUS preferred
