ShiftDays. Work may include weekends, afternoons, holidays or graveyard shifts and the candidate must be available for call‑outs to repair equipment.

- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Under general supervision, repairs and installs all types of shredding and conveying machinery, equipment, buildings; performs various repairs on belts, bearings, pulleys, rollers and related equipment; performs welding and related duties; works from drawings and blueprints to layout and assemble all types of steel construction and repairs; sets up and operates machine tools for parts used in the plant and performs precision work as needed;
operates heavy equipment to perform various duties in the mechanical repair department. - Performs welding, cutting, pipe fitting, fabrication, lubrication, and related repair as needed for production machinery and equipment including (but not limited to) conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, valves, compressors, and belt conveyor systems.
- Installation and alignment of necessary equipment for safe production operation; where applicable, includes safe removal of similar equipment.
- Prepares required paperwork regarding repairs completed as assigned.
- Goes through initial and annual training for the ISO 14000 requirements.
- Familiarizes with MSHA Part 46 safety and training policies.
- Installs, dismantles, repairs, reassembles, and aligns machinery, equipment and tools as needed to improve function and operation.
- Solves routine maintenance problems regarding equipment and machinery effectively.
- Performs duties with verbal instructions and/or by reading and interpreting blueprints, charts, and tables.
- Maintains proper records of parts and materials used in maintenance jobs and job procedures.
- Performs preventative and predictive maintenance activities on equipment as directed.
- Operates cutting torch and plasma cutting during welding duties.
- Operates a cutting torch and welder.
- Performs lifting and rigging operations with mobile cranes once proper training has been received.
- Cleans up after each maintenance job is completed.
- Inspects tools for proper operation and stores them appropriately.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
- High school graduation or equivalent; must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
- Willingness to learn; training will be provided.
- Two‑year technical education preferred in mechanical maintenance with an emphasis in preventive maintenance.
- Two to three years related mechanical maintenance experience preferred.
- Ability to understand and interpret instructions, blueprints, drawings, and sketches; knowledge of setting up and operating alignment equipment.
- Ability to safely and effectively operate a man lift, scissors lift and forklift.
- Proficiency with hand tools, air and electric‑driven power tools, hoists, hand taps, dies, cutting torch, welding machines, wrenches, jacks, and specialized machine tools.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, air tools, saws, ladders, hoists and related equipment.
