Job DescriptionDiesel Mechanics (Class A or
B) are responsible for maintaining trucks and service vehicles throughout the mill site to ensure safe, high-performing operations. This role requires hands-on maintenance skills, diagnostic expertise, and leadership capabilities. Mechanics must have experience with electronic engines and be comfortable performing a wide range of mechanical duties.
Days and Shift Information
- Full-time position working M-F 5PM - 5AM, flexibility a must.
- On-call support required (24/7 availability)
Responsibilities
- Perform lube, oil, and filter changes; conduct inspections; diagnose and repair diesel engines and electronic systems on Mack, Freightliner, and Taylor vehicles.
- Maintain and repair air brake systems, spring and air suspension systems, hydraulic systems, and perform tire changes, engine maintenance, and part replacements.
- Operate vehicles when needed and assist mill or customer personnel with internal logistics and transportation support.
- Order necessary parts, maintain tool inventory (must have own tools), and perform basic metal fabrication and truck upkeep.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment and report any equipment issues, hazards, or incidents to the on-duty supervisor promptly.
- Outdoor and indoor work around an active mill site
- Physically demanding tasks, including lifting, crawling, and standing for extended periods
- Exposure to dust, grease, diesel fumes, and machinery noise
- Fast-paced environment requiring independent decision-making and teamwork
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Technical training or certification in diesel mechanics is a plus
Experience
- 2–5 years of vehicle maintenance experience required
- Hands-on experience with Mack, Freightliner, and Taylor trucks
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools, air/hydraulic systems, and electronic engines
- Comfortable with basic metal fabrication
- Must have personal tools

- $22/hour
- Accrue up to five days PTO in first year. Two-weeks vacation, plus one week PTO accrue on first anniversary.
