SUMMARY: Ensures products meet quality and food safety standards by implementing and maintaining food safety programs, conducting audits, performing documentation control and revision, identifying, investigating, and resolving quality issues, deviations, and customer complaints. Manages a team of QA personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Carries supervisory responsibilities; supervises, trains, and motivates QA personnel; administers attendance and disciplinary measures.
  • Reviews and audits production paperwork, batch records, QC inspections, and sanitation reports for accuracy and completeness; calculates production yield and ensures compliance with established specification limits.
  • Leads site investigations of OOSs, NCMRs, Deviations, Customer Complaints, CAPAs, and regulatory findings.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance through implementation and enforcement of GMP, GDP, Food Safety, FDA regulations, and company policies.
  • Presides over MRB, Food Safety, and Product Complaint discussions for solving production, quality, and complaint problems.
  • Coordinates Reworks and NCMRs with inventory control and production departments.
  • Maintains QA/QC documents, files, protocols, reports, and policies at audit‑ready level.
  • Administers Change control and promotes Good Documentation Practice principles.
  • Performs Monthly Internal GMP audits at all company departments and generates monthly GMP reports.
  • Reviews, approves, and maintains Supplier qualification records; coordinates employees' training programs and oversees training record completeness.
  • Monitors QMS implemented programs (GMPs, Personal Hygiene Practices, HACCP, Allergen Control, Cleaning and Sanitation, Pest Control, Environmental control, Kosher, Halal, etc.) and ensures compliance.
  • Oversees equipment and instruments calibration and preventive maintenance program.
  • Assists in development and updates of the company's Food Safety and Food defense plans, HACCP, process control, and monitoring procedures.
  • Assists in preparation and participation in FDA, NSF, Kosher, Halal, Texas DSHS, and other inspections and audits.
  • Stays up to date with current CFR pertaining to food, dietary supplements, cosmetics, and drugs.
  • Shares knowledge, skills, and information with production departments and team members.
  • Other tasks and functions as assigned by the QC manager.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Directly supervises the Quality Assurance unit; trains employees, plans, assigns, and directs work; assists the QC Manager in interviewing, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining the QA Team.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • EDUCATION and/or

    EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (chemistry, chemical engineering, biology, microbiology, food science, etc.) and 3–4 years supervisory experience in a quality control role within food, nutraceutical, or pharmaceutical industry. Master’s degree and 2 years supervisory experience are also acceptable.
  • LANGUAGE

    SKILLS:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedures; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of employees.
  • MATHEMATICAL

    SKILLS:

    Proficient in algebra and statistics; apply mathematical operations to tasks such as frequency distribution, test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • COMPUTER

    SKILLS:

    Knowledge of Database software, manufacturing software, spreadsheet software, Word, Excel;
    Oracle is a plus.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
