About this opportunityThis role plays a vital part in creating a safe, engaging, and meaningful camp experience through nature/environmental programming that encourages curiosity, education, and reflect the camp’s commitment to the natural environment.
As Camp Nature and Environment Specialist, you’ll plan and lead age-appropriate activities while building strong connections with campers and fellow staff. You’ll be part of a collaborative, Christ-centered community that values fun, service, and intentional mentorship.
Key Responsibilities- Teaches environmental studies to campers, covering topics such as geology, soils, plant adaptations, wildlife habitats, basic astronomy, water studies, animal science, and natural history.
- Creates age and ability appropriate nature/environmental activities.
- Ensures camp staff and campers follow safety procedures.
- Maintains the nature/environmental equipment
- Support and participate enthusiastically as a team member in overall camp programming, special events, and evening activities as part of a collaborative staff team.
- Must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate or GED preferred.
- A heart for others and a mind towards Christ.
- Should be self-motivated and teachable.
- 2 years experience in environmental studies and wildlife preferred, OR
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- A willingness to abide by The Salvation Army doctrinal statement and Camp Hoblitzelle’s policies.
- CPR & First Aid certified or capable of passing by June 15, 2026 (training provided by Camp Hoblitzell e during staff training if needed).
- Must be able to pass a state and federal background check.
- Camp Staff Training will be held June 8 – June 14, 2026
, and participation is required. The 2026 summer Camp program sessions will be held June 15 - July 26, 2026
