Pharmacy Technician​/Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you’ll be front and center—interacting with our customers and developing strong patient relationships.

• Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy and in performing other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems.
• Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer issues to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct and Good Faith Dispensing policy during all prescription dispensing activities.
• Assist in inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
• Assist with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies and clean, neat and orderly in appearance.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

• Under the supervision of the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
• Enter patient and drug information into pharmacy systems, ensuring correct data entry.
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking possible interactions.
• Report prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
• Register all related sales on the assigned cash register, collect and handle cash as required.
• Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services in a timely and efficient manner.

• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration.
• Attend training requested by Manager and acquire continuing education credits. Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Good math skills for accurate prescription counting, measuring, and weighing.
• Good computer skills.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
