Overview
Responsible for ensuring patron safety; enforcing pool rules and regulations, performing water rescues and administering basic first aid as needed; carrying out emergency operating procedures and notifying proper authorities; assisting in general maintenance and cleaning of pool area and equipment.
Responsibilities- Ensures patron safety by strictly enforcing all pool rules and regulations and applying disciplinary action for violations.
- Enters the water to rescue individuals in trouble and administers the necessary aid to revive them.
- Carries out emergency operation procedures and notifies proper authorities.
- Assists in maintaining facilities, cleans pool, decks, restrooms, gutters, etc.
- Assists in special activities/events at the pool.
- Recommends to supervisor of needed material and equipment.
- Wears the proper uniform at all times and provides own sunglasses.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Completion of ninth grade and at least 15 years of age. Must be able to possess valid Lifeguard Training Certificate as well as CPR and First Aid Certificates prior to Memorial Day weekend. Must be able to swim 200 yards continuously using the front crawl or breaststroke. Must be able to surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards back to the stand with the object.
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of tenth grade and at least 16 years of age. Possess valid Lifeguard Training, CPR and First Aid Certificates. Possess a valid class "C" driver's license. Must be able to demonstrate a high skill level in swimming, approaches, carries, resuscitation, assists and victim removal. Must have knowledge of customer service standards and procedures. Ability to act calmly and effectively in emergency situations, to prepare routine administrative paperwork, enforce pool rules and regulations, to perform emergency operation and procedures and inform proper authorities, to effectively and efficiently communicate with public, to work long hours, to sit in an alert manner and observe the activities of the pool while on the stand, to learn the operation and maintenance of the pool facilities, to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Salary: $8.60-9.60;
Memorial Day through Labor Day as needed;
Days off and hours may vary;
Lifeguards typically log 10-30 hours per week.
