Engages in activities related to the supervision of adult offenders, and responsible for the enforcement of the conditions of supervision imposed by the Court. Maintains complete records, prepares assessment plans, and supervises offenders as determined by the matrix. Refers offenders to various departmental and community resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Make recommendations to the Court concerning Pretrial supervision upon a bond inquiry.
  • Record and document all significant actions, decisions, services rendered, and periodic evaluations in the offender's record. This documentation shall include, but is not limited to, the offender's compliance with the conditions, progress, responses to intervention, and adjustment to pretrial supervision.
  • Close outs files in a timely manner.
  • Meet with offenders in individual session as dictated by the needs of the offender, or as ordered by the Court.
  • Address violations of the conditions with the client and with the Manager as needed, to determine appropriate actions.
  • Prepare court related documents; be present in court for sentencing, revocations, and as required by the Court or directed by the Manager.
  • Ensure caseload compliance with department policies and memorandums. Enforce individual conditions for all offenders as ordered by the Court.
  • Ensure offender understands conditions of release as ordered by the Court. Proper case documentation required.
  • Monitor and assist in supervising the collection of court ordered fees.
  • Complete curfew checks and home visits on a random basis as ordered by the court.
  • Follow the Pretrial Services Departments Policies.
  • Refer to and seek assistance from Article 17.01 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedures in reference to Bonding questions and procedures.
  • Coordinate and maintain contact with the prosecuting attorneys, defense attorneys, district and county clerks, all other local criminal justice agencies, and the community at large.
  • Maintain County issued vehicle and equipment in a clean and good working condition.
  • Must be willing to work weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule.
  • Clean monitors, GPS, and Scram units
  • Help cover tasks that the non-driving PSO is unable to cover.
  • Attend court per schedule
  • Regular and timely attendance is required
Qualifications, Education, and/or experience

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and at least six months of full time experience in case work counseling, or related field.

KNOWLEDGE OF/SKILL OR ABILITY TO
Must possess working knowledge of the English language, spelling. Possess good interpersonal skills in dealing with offenders, public, and co-workers court personnel, city/county personnel, law enforcement agencies and must function as a team player with local/state resource agencies. Knowledge of computer and their programs and be able to type 50 wpm. Applicant must have the ability to follow verbal and written instructions, and follow office policies and procedures.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must be able to obtain and maintain insurance by agency insurance carrier and Notary Public of the State of Texas. Must have valid, clean driving record, provide proof of vehicle insurance, and have adequate transportation.
