Job Overview

Under the direction of the Family Advocacy Program Director, the Bilingual Family Advocate has primary responsibility for providing victim advocacy, accompaniment, follow-up, information/referral, and support services to primary and secondary victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, and other crimes against children, as well as to their non‑offending family members. The role participates in community interactions that promote visibility and awareness of the Midland Rape Crisis and Children’s Advocacy Center (MRCCAC) programs and services.

This position will travel between MRCCAC satellite offices in Midland, Andrews, and Howard counties.

• Provide emotional support, advocacy, guidance, and resource coordination for child victims of abuse and their non‑offending family members from the first contact through the healing and legal process.
• Assess the needs of children and families and provide appropriate referrals.
• Act as liaison and follow‑up services between families and investigators or outside resources.
• Provide comprehensive case management to caregivers and victims throughout the life of the case.
• Inform clients of their rights, Victim’s Compensation Act, Texas VINE, privileges, and confidentiality rules; assist with Crime Victim’s Compensation forms.
• Provide crisis intervention, advocacy, and accompaniment at hospitals, law enforcement agencies, and the District Attorney’s Office.
• Work after hours as needed when volunteers are unavailable or requested.

• Attend and participate in MDT meetings in Midland, Andrews, and Big Spring.
• Make recommendations regarding follow‑up for children and families.
• Facilitate child MDT meetings and liaison with Law Enforcement, District Attorney, County Attorney, Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, Midland Memorial Hospital, MRCCAC Therapists, and other community agencies.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care.

• Document and maintain case files, statistical reports, and input program databases.
• Attend MDT, Victim’s Coalition, agency staffing, CAC Program, and supervision meetings.
• Participate in professional training, conferences, and in‑services as directed.
• Assist in improved collaboration with community agencies.
• Collaborate with the FA Program Director on evaluation procedures.
• Support fundraising efforts for the FA Program Director/MRCCAC Board as needed.
• Perform other duties as directed by the FA Program Director or Executive Director.

A baccalaureate degree is required in social work or a related field aligned with the mission and objectives of the Midland Rape Crisis and Children’s Advocacy Center.

• Bilingual in Spanish (required).
• Understanding of trauma and child sexual abuse.
• Knowledge of legal systems related to child abuse investigations.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience working with diverse professionals from child protection, law enforcement, court systems, and related community services.
• Experience in needs assessment of victims and families and in identifying appropriate referrals.
• Ability to organize varied tasks and work with a wide range of individuals.
• Proven ability to work with all victims of sexual assault, sexual abuse, and child abuse without bias or prejudice regarding any characteristic.

The MRCCAC provides support, hope, and healing for survivors of sexual assault and child abuse in the Permian Basin and surrounding counties. Our goal is to eradicate all forms of abuse through education and empowerment, offering every service possible to help survivors move forward. The Center began in 1979 and expanded its services in 1996 with the addition of the Children’s Advocacy Center program.

Satellite offices opened in Andrews County (2007) and Howard County (2018). The MRCCAC operates four programs:
Crisis and Support Services, Children’s Advocacy Center, Therapy, and Education. Services are offered at no cost, funded by federal and state grants, United Way, local foundations, and private contributions.
