XRI’s Field Technician is responsible for diagnosing equipment issues, ordering parts, preparing technical reports, and maintaining care of company assets, with a focus on quality and efficiency of all work.
The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Performs daily inspections of all tools and equipment, whether if in the field or in the Shop.
- Conduct basic to advanced mechanical work, including troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repairs on all equipment
- Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Software System)
- Conduct Perform quality checks and run test all equipment prior to releasing
- Ensure work area is free from hazardous objects and substances
- Manageinventory in service vehicles and Shop shelves
- Possess strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of using maintenance equipment
- Capable of diagnosing and repairing any/all types of vehicles and equipment.
- Medium to high level of tools invested
- Demonstrate excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Perform job safety analyses (JSAs ) daily
- Must have organizational and time-management skills Be highly organized and team oriented
- Adhere to all regulatory, environmental, and safety rules and standards, as well as company policies
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, kneel, squat, or lie down while working
- Ability to work in seasonal temperatures: potentially extreme (hot and/or cold) weather
- Able to operate equipment and vehicles
- High School diploma or GED, or equivalent education required.
- Industry experience is preferred.
- 5+ Years’ automotive repair experience is required, including : diagnostics, electrical, diesel (preferred but not required).
- Extensive knowledge in diesel engines which includes field diagnostics and repairs, wiring schematics and PM services.
- Familiarity with Field generators, light plants, forklifts, skid steers and other off-road equipment.
- Extensive knowledge of Emissions systems e.g. DEF/Aftertreatment systems.
- Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- This position requires a valid state-issued driver’s license, and employees must pass an initial drug and alcohol screening at hire.
- Requires the ability to travel to a variety of field locations, where environment may vary significantly.
