Install, operate, and maintain all electrical traffic control devices, continuous roadway lighting, early warning siren system, and associated equipment.

* Observe traffic signal control devices to determine correct operation.

* Bench test, troubleshoot, and repair traffic signal control devices.

* Install, maintain, and remove roadway lighting.

* Evaluate damage and conduct emergency repair of traffic control devices due to accidents, malfunctions, and weather.

* Install or repair conduit and pull wires and cable on an emergency and non-emergency basis.

* Monitor signal effectiveness through use of a computer, develop new signal sequencing/phasing scenarios, and modify and/or update existing devices to improve traffic flow using various traffic optimization software.

* Install, maintain, or remove associated traffic control devices as needed due to damage or normal wear and tear.

* Respond to emergency calls regarding malfunctioning traffic control devices.

* Rotating weekly on-call/stand-by duty.

* Maintain inventory of supplies, equipment, and all traffic signal shop assets.

* Set up and maintain work zone traffic control as required by the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.

* Maintains activity records such as work orders, status reports, trouble calls , and work schedules.

* Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.

* Install, maintain and troubleshoot Cisco, Alvarion and Dragonwave radios that are the backbone of the wireless ATMS system.

* Install, maintain and repair in pavement flashing crosswalks.

Office and field environments with ability to sit, stand and drive a vehicle to and from various worksites. Ability to bend, lift, stoop and work at heights on ladders or other elevating equipment. Exposure to electrical energy, high voltage, computer screens, heat, cold, noise, dust, fumes, and inclement weather conditions.

Receives general supervision from higher-level division staff. Effectively communicates with fellow employees, management, and citizens who may inquire regarding work activities.

Knowledge of principles and practices of electrical/electronic theory; technical manuals for installation and maintenance of traffic control devices; use of a computerized system for coordinating traffic movement; understanding of schematics, site plans, maps, and engineering drawings; mathematical principles; basic use of Windows based software. Ability to work with electricity; operate and maintain computerized signal and communication equipment; troubleshoot or repair problems regarding traffic control devices;

troubleshoot or repair data communication equipment and cable; install or remove electronic devices; wire and connect cable necessary for signalized intersections; understand and follow oral and written instructions. Skill in use of equipment such as trenchers, concrete saws, hand tools, electrical testing equipment, boom trucks, bucket trucks, and various support equipment.

High school diploma or equivalent with 1-3 years experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic control devices. Required certifications are IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level 2, Work Zone Traffic Control, and IMSA Roadway Lighting Level
1. Valid Texas Class "A" or "B" CDL driver's license required, Class "A" preferred.

WAGES/

HOURS:

$2,995 - $3,444 - DOQ;
Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm;
Rotating on-call/standby after hours.
