Job Description
The RN, with a focus on patient safety, is required to function within the parameters of the legal scope of practice and in accordance with federal, state, and local laws; rules and regulations; and policies, procedures, and guidelines of the employing healthcare institution or practice setting. The RN functions under his or her own license and assumes accountability and responsibility for the quality of care provided to patients and their families according to the standards of nursing practice.
The RN demonstrates responsibility for continued competence in nursing practice and develops insight through reflection, self-analysis, self-care, and lifelong learning.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS· An associate’s degree (ADN) or diploma in nursing is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred. Our aim is that MMH nurses are prepared at the BSN level. We support your pursuit of a BSN. A BSN and certification in a clinical area of expertise will be required for advancement within the clinical nurse professional practice ladder.
· Current State of Texas License as a Registered Nurse.
· Specialty area certification within 2 years of employment (e.g., Certified Med-Surg, or OCN) is preferred.
· Completion of a chemo-biotherapy provider course within one year of employment in an Oncology inpatient or outpatient area.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The individual must be able to: stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift (up to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff), see, speak, and hear.
