Job Summary

The registered nurse will perform direct patient/resident care and delegate to patient care technicians, providing care and comfort to patients. The role requires knowledge and compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to facility care. Basic medical/surgical knowledge is necessary to care for general surgical and orthopedic surgical patients.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patient needs regularly and provide skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician’s plan of care and nursing standards.
  • Provide direct patient care, including medication administration, treatments, assisting with transfers, and responding to alarms.
  • Evaluate treatment effectiveness and collaborate with team members to update care plans.
  • Process physician orders accurately and timely, and follow up on medication changes.
  • Interpret clinical information, provide patient education, and participate in care conferences.
  • Coordinate care with team members and supervise patient care technicians.
  • Document clinical data clearly and participate in regulatory surveys and quality improvement activities.
  • Assist with orientation, competencies, and emergency preparedness.
  • Perform specialized procedures such as inserting tubes, providing ostomy care, and managing drains, following physician orders and proper procedures.
  • Maintain safety measures and adhere to policies and protocols.
  • Qualifications and Licenses
    • RN license issued by MI.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA.
    • Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) certification within 6 months of hire.
    • Dysrhythmia Interpretation certification within 12 months for new hires after 01/01/2025.
    • Associate degree required;
      Bachelor's preferred.
    Additional Requirements
    • Interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
    • Competency in Microsoft Windows and willingness to participate in ongoing learning.
    • Physical ability to perform job functions, including lifting and moving patients, and working in stressful situations.
    • Physical demand level:
      Medium, with specific weight lifting capabilities.
