Job Description
RN/LVN role focused on patient safety, functioning within legal scope of practice and institutional policies. The RN assumes accountability for quality of care and demonstrates responsibility for continued competence, learning through reflection, self‑analysis, self‑care, and lifelong learning.
SHIFT AND SCHEDULEFull Time. Monday – Friday. 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM with some late shifts 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
Essential Functions/Performance Expectations- Complete a comprehensive assessment, including the initial and ongoing, extensive collection, analysis and interpretation of data.
- Synthesize the data collected during the comprehensive assessment to identify problems, make nursing diagnoses, and formulate goals, teaching plans, and outcomes.
- Implement the plan of care. The RN/LVN may begin, deliver, assign or delegate certain interventions within the plan of care for patients within legal, ethical, and regulatory parameters and in consideration of health restoration, disease prevention, wellness, and promotion of healthy lifestyles.
- Evaluate and report patient outcomes and responses to therapeutic interventions in comparison to benchmarks from evidence‑based practice and research findings and plan any follow‑up care and referrals to appropriate resources that may be needed.
- An associate’s degree (ADN) or diploma in nursing is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred. Our aim is that MMH nurses are prepared at the BSN level. We are committed to support your pursuit of a BSN education. A BSN and certification in clinical area of expertise will be required to advance within the clinical nurse professional practice ladder.
- Current State of Texas License as a Registered Nurse or LVN
- Certification in area of specialty (e.g., CV, CIS etc.) preferred
- ACLS required within 12 months of date of employment in the Heart Institute.
- Critical Care experience preferred.
- Minimal of one on‑call weekend or alternative schedule (i.e., 3–4 on‑call weekdays instead of weekend) monthly and one major and one minor holiday per year as determined by departmental needs.
- Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non‑clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted‑lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits.
