Job Description

The RN, with a focus on patient safety, is required to function within the parameters of the legal scope of practice and in accordance with the federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the employing healthcare institution or practice setting. The RN functions under his or her own license and assumes accountability and responsibility for the quality of care provided to patients and their families, according to the standards of nursing practice.

The RN demonstrates responsibility for continued competence in nursing practice and develops insight through reflection, self-analysis, self-care, and lifelong learning.

SHIFT AND SCHEDULE

PRN 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM & Full Time 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
  • Complete a comprehensive assessment, including initial and ongoing data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Synthesize the collected data to identify problems, make nursing diagnoses, and formulate goals, teaching plans, and outcomes.
  • Implement the plan of care, including beginning, delivering, assigning, or delegating interventions within legal, ethical, and regulatory parameters, considering health restoration, disease prevention, wellness, and promotion of healthy lifestyles.
  • Evaluate and report patient outcomes and responses to therapeutic interventions, compare to evidence-based benchmarks, and plan follow-up care and referrals as needed.
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • An associate’s degree (ADN) or diploma in nursing is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred. Support for pursuing a BSN is provided. A BSN and certification in a clinical area of expertise are required for advancement within the clinical nurse professional practice ladder.
  • Current Texas RN license.
  • Specialty area certification within 2 years of employment (e.g., Certified Med-Surg, or OCN) preferred.
  • Completion of a chemo-biotherapy provider course within one year of employment in an Oncology inpatient or outpatient area.
