Employees in this classification are responsible for providing professional nursing care in an assigned specialty or subspecialty clinic. They perform a variety of general and specialized nursing duties as part of a total health care team to provide the patient with complete evaluations. Employees in this position generally assist the head nurse in the supervision of other clinic personnel and may substitute for this person in the event of his or her absence.

May supervise and instruct subordinate nursing personnel. Receives supervision from head nurse or physician, functions independently within guidelines. May supervise ancillary nursing personnel in the performance of certain tasks, and assists in training personnel. Work is performed under usual clinic conditions and requires a high degree of contact with patients, families, and other clinic personnel and outside professionals.

• Assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient's response.
• Utilizes knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients to transition through the healthcare encounter without any preventable complications or delays.
• The Sr Staff RN delegates interventions to health care personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, each patient's condition and the competencies of the employee.
• Provides specialized care for high‑risk pregnancies, performing patient assessments, assisting with procedures like amniocentesis, conducting fetal monitoring, and coordinating care with physicians, genetic counselors, and other healthcare professionals.
• This role requires advanced knowledge of high‑risk conditions such as pre‑eclampsia, gestational diabetes, and pre‑term labor, as well as strong critical thinking, communication, and technical skills.

Other duties as directed by MFM Physician and or Administrator.

• Graduate from an approved accredited nursing program;
• Current RN license in the State of Texas or have the ability to transfer license to Texas.
• A minimum of two years of Staff Nurse experience in a specialty area.
