Job Description

• Meet all requirements and perform as a senior level welder.
• Must pass the 6G test with NDT and X-ray.
• Demonstrate leadership skills, promote and support safety, production, and a positive attitude.
• Monitor the work of and train the assigned team to ensure quality and timeliness.
• Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills and effectively communicate with customers and inspectors to explain issues or answer questions about a project.
• Work closely with and communicate with other departments regarding incoming and outgoing units and parts.
• Determine and provide projected work hours for project completion.
• Assist in scheduling work hours for the assigned team based on budget, skills, and expertise required on a project.
• Recommend training to personnel to provide the skills necessary to meet the demands of the area.
• Work with an aluminum spool gun for common repair of compression components.
• Effectively complete competing tasks.

• Effectively complete competing tasks.

• Advanced knowledge of metal core MIG, TIG, flux‑core, sub‑arc or stick welding processes.
• Advanced knowledge of different types and sizes of pipe, structural, and vessel materials.
• Advanced knowledge of flame and plasma cutting as well as a gouger.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Working knowledge of NG compression pipe fitting/routing.
• Working ability to read and interpret PIDs and GA drawings.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Welding training or equivalent on‑the‑job training preferred.
• Pipe or plate welding certification if required in assigned facility.
• Must provide own welding hood, chipping hammer, and wire‑cutting pliers.

• Typically 7 years of related experience and/or training.

• Frequently leads, monitors, and checks the work of at least three welders.
• Trains team members to improve skill, productivity, safety, quality, and processes.
• Provides input for hire, fire, and job changes.
• Provides input for performance reviews, discipline, and issues.

• Must be fit for duty for the tasks being performed.
• Must meet the medical requirements necessary to wear PPE, including respiratory protection.
• Constantly required to stand, display good manual dexterity, and reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently required to talk and hear.
• Frequently required to walk with good balance.
• Regularly required to lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds and to push and pull up to 90 pounds.
• Occasionally required to stoop, twist, kneel, and squat.
• Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

• Requires no help and covers most difficult situations for assigned shop operations.
• Provides solutions to a diverse scope and range of technical, operational, and people problems.
• Solutions frequently require evaluation of variable factors, new approaches, planning, and resourcefulness.
• Expected to regularly identify opportunities and provide ideas, methods, and innovations to enhance teamwork, efficiency, and quality within the scope of the role.
