About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Occupational therapist with a passion for providing supports to autistic adults. This newly developed role sits within an experienced team providing support to adults with complex support needs, and would provide a specialised contribution towards promoting independence as they age in place. You would work alongside experienced occupational therapists, speech pathologists, psychologists, behaviour support practitioners and the individuals’ support teams where each member drives the ongoing promotion of quality of life.

Responsibilities
  • Be part of a specialist team:
    Collaborate and learn from a knowledgeable and supportive multidisciplinary team who have specialised in supporting adults with complex support needs
  • Become a specialist in your chosen area of Occupational therapy:
    Select your area of passion to contribute to the team and be provided with opportunities to further your skills and qualifications in this area, e.g., functional capacity assessments, home modifications, safe travel, sensory processing, positive behaviour support
  • Contribute to the interface of behaviour and environment:
    Drive your therapy services to provide life changing supports through your understanding of the most optimal environment for the person’s individual support needs
  • Deliver individualised and collaborative therapy services:
    Design individualised programs to extend or maintain a individuals’ independence within their environments at home and in the community
  • Variation in your day:
    Use the flexibility within your caseload to arrange your work day in a way that works for you. Foster connection with your team by working at one of our Hubs closest to you, or choose to spend some days in the community between appointments.
  • Make a difference in the community:
    Participate in community events and projects through our extensive community partnerships to support inclusion for all. Some of our community partners include AQWA, The Art Gallery of Western Australia, Sci Tech, Sensitive Santa and WA Cricket.
About You

You enjoy working with autistic adults who are at the centre of everything we do.

We are looking for an experienced and driven Occupational Therapist who:

  • Has tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and membership with AHPRA
  • Is passionate about working with adults and their support network
  • Demonstrates a person-centred approach, with a passion for empowering individuals and supporting their independence
  • Has strong communication skills and able to build rapport with individuals, families, and other professionals
  • Has the flexibility and initiative to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and to delivering the highest standard of care
  • Our Autism Association Hubs are based in Shenton Park, Joondalup, Midland and East Fremantle.

To join our team you will be required to complete required clearances including an NDIS Workers Check.
