Controller, Finance & Banking, Accounting Manager

A growing oil & gas company in Midland, TX is seeking a highly skilled Controller (CPA required) to lead accounting operations and financial reporting. This is a hands‑on leadership role ideal for a Controller with 3–5 years of experience overseeing full‑cycle accounting within the energy sector.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, operational discipline, and a deep understanding of upstream oil & gas financial reporting, joint interest billing (JIB), and regulatory compliance.

This is a fully onsite role based in Midland.

• Oversee all accounting operations including GL, AP/AR, revenue accounting, payroll, and fixed assets
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes
• Ensure accurate revenue recognition and cost allocations

• Joint Interest Billing (JIB) and revenue distribution
• Oversee production accounting and working interest calculations
• Monitor AFE tracking and capital expenditure reporting
• Ensure compliance with state and federal oil & gas regulations

• Maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies
• Coordinate external audits and tax filings
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry reporting standards

• Oversee cash flow management and forecasting
• Support budgeting and financial modeling processes
• Provide financial analysis to executive leadership

• Manage and mentor accounting staff
• Improve processes and implement efficiencies where needed
• Partner cross‑functionally with operations and executive teams

• Active CPA license (Required)
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3–5 years of experience as a Controller
• Prior experience in Oil & Gas accounting
• Strong understanding of GAAP and industry‑specific reporting
• Experience managing full‑cycle accounting and financial statements
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP systems

• Experience with oil & gas accounting software (Enertia, OGSYS, P2, or similar)
• Audit background (Big 4 or regional firm a plus)
• Experience working in private equity‑backed environments
