Job Title: Instrument and Electrical Technician II
Location: Midland, TX
Schedule: 5/2 (Monday–Friday), 40 hours/week
Potential weekly on-call rotation
Pay Rate: $60/hr
Main FunctionsInstalls and maintains electrical and instrument equipment in compliance with all applicable rules and practices. Tests and repairs electrical and instrumentation systems utilized by production equipment to ensure adherence to established performance levels and product quality. Evaluates electrical systems and instruments to establish repair plans and documents all findings and corrective actions.
Tasks and Responsibilities- Plan, update, and oversee activities within assigned responsibilities in accordance with laws, regulations, standards, specifications, and procedures, with strong emphasis on SSHE
- Support and encourage teamwork between operations, engineering, and projects groups
- Provide input to and review control specifications and work practices
- Responsible and accountable for electrical and control systems per the Work Management Manual
- Apply and follow work permits through the Permit to Work System (PTWS)
- Ensure quality and timely completion of work scheduled through the Maintenance Program
- Develop personal and team technical skills related to new regulations, equipment, and methods
- Attend and instruct technical meetings as needed to communicate latest specifications, codes, procedures, and technologies
- Maintain open communication on electrical and control issues including safe work practices, training, and materials
- Support work prioritization to maximize effectiveness and align with other work groups
- Provide technical support to other technicians for maintenance and troubleshooting
- Generate Management of Change (MOC) requests and follow through installation inspections consistent with OIMS Element 3
- Construct, monitor, and inspect new installations and recommend upgrades as necessary
- Act as stand-in for Instrument and Electrical Lead when required
- Associate’s degree preferred (technical school courses a plus)
- Minimum 5 years of experience maintaining electrical systems and Instrumentation & Controls in a processing plant or offshore production environment
- Familiar with oil & gas facility regulations
- Knowledge of OIMS systems, manuals, and procedures
- Allen-Bradley PLC experience
- ROC & IDEC controller experience
- HMI experience with Red Lion, Crimson, and Panel View platforms
- Meets all safety, administrative, and technical training requirements per company-approved training roadmap
- Strong computing skills
- Safety-oriented
- Strong communication skills
- Good organizational and reporting abilities
- Attention to detail
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Minimum 5 years’ experience required
- Agency-provided ½-ton truck
- Tools provided by XTO
- XTO to supply 4-gas monitor
