SummaryMPLX NG & NGL Operations West Region is seeking an Operations Engineer. The Operations Engineer will provide engineering support, project management, technical stewardship, and oversight to gathering, pipeline, compression, and gas plant operations assets. This position reports to the Operations Engineering Manager and requires previous experience in operations engineering, crude oil/natural gas/natural gas liquids gathering, pipelines, compression/pump facilities, and gas processing plants.
The role focuses on providing operations engineering support and the development/execution of gathering, pipeline, compression, and gas plant‑related projects.
- Provide engineering support and technical oversight for gathering, pipeline, compression, and gas plant operations.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and optimize processes using sound engineering practices.
- Manage capital and expense projects, ensuring adherence to budgets and project‑management standards.
- Perform engineering calculations and modeling using modern technical tools and software.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Participate in Process Safety Management activities (PHAs, MOCs, PSSR).
- Collaborate with internal and external subject‑matter experts to maintain industry best practices.
- Develop and manage capital and expense projects, including economic evaluations, scoping, costing, and approval documentation for gas plant and associated infrastructure.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to identify and mitigate process safety risks.
- Drive continuous improvement in safety performance through audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience with gas plant design and construction, including project planning, equipment specification, and commissioning.
- Familiarity with process simulation software such as Pro Max, VMG Symmetry, and/or Aspen HYSYS.
Location: Midland, TX (Paragon)
Salary: $104,300 – $179,800
