Summary

The Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Manager leads and develops a team of I&E technicians supporting natural gas compression operations. This role is accountable for ensuring that electrical and instrumentation systems are installed, maintained, and repaired to the highest safety and reliability standards. The I&E Manager provides technical leadership, builds strong working relationships across operations, engineering, and vendor partners, and represents Kodiak in interactions with external stakeholders to ensure expectations are met and projects are executed with excellence.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and manage I&E technicians to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality work.
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for I&E matters, ensuring responsiveness to field needs and external stakeholder requirements.
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for electrical and instrumentation systems across the fleet.
  • Partner with operations teams to deliver timely solutions and minimize equipment downtime.
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication with internal teams and external partners on project status, schedules, and technical issues.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain and Customers on system upgrades, new installations, and troubleshooting.
  • Review and approve technical drawings, schematics, and work scopes for accuracy and compliance.
  • Support audits, inspections, and external meetings as a subject matter expert.
  • Monitor team performance, set clear expectations, and foster accountability for results.
  • Manage inventory of I&E tools, equipment, and critical spare parts to support operations.
  • Track budgets, labor allocation, and cost control measures for I&E projects.
  • Ensure accurate records are kept for maintenance and repairs inside the ERP system.
  • Promote a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and teamwork within the department.
Education & Certifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or related field (or equivalent field experience).
  • Preferred certifications:
    Journeyman Electrician, ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST), or equivalent.
Work Experience
  • 10+ years of progressive I&E experience in oil & gas, power generation, or industrial operations.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing I&E teams, preferably in natural gas compression.
  • Strong technical knowledge of PLCs, DCS, SCADA, MV‑VFD, and industrial instrumentation.
  • Proven experience working with cross‑functional teams and external stakeholders to achieve operational goals.
  • Demonstrated success in managing budgets, schedules, and operational efficiency.
  • ERP and CMMS experience preferred (Workday, SAP, Maximo, etc.).
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills with ability to build trust and accountability.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills across all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to explain technical issues clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in CMMS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills with ability to prioritize competing demands.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to work in field environments with exposure to outdoor elements, uneven terrain, and industrial conditions.
  • Requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity to operate testing equipment, hand tools, and computers.
  • Up to 50% travel required.
