Position Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Campus Principal
Position Summary: The secondary English Language Arts teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction that develops students’ reading comprehension, writing proficiency, critical thinking, and communication skills while supporting student well‑being and a positive campus culture. The teacher fosters a classroom environment that encourages thoughtful discussion, analysis of complex texts, and clear written expression. The ideal candidate is student‑centered, collaborative, and committed to continuous improvement while maintaining high expectations for all learners.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards‑aligned instruction based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) in accordance with Texas Education Code §28.002. Emphasize close reading, literary and informational text analysis, evidence‑based writing, vocabulary development, and effective communication.
- Use data‑informed instruction to meet the diverse academic and social‑emotional needs of students.
- Provide rigorous Tier 1 instruction using research‑based strategies, explicit instruction, structured student discussion, and differentiated learning experiences to support literacy development for all students.
- Establish a structured and supportive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, respectful dialogue, and intellectual curiosity.
- Use ongoing assessment practices, including formative and summative assessments, to monitor student progress, adjust instruction, and provide timely feedback to students and families.
- Participate in Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), including intervention planning and progress monitoring for students requiring additional academic assistance.
- Collaborate with department teams, instructional coaches, intervention staff, and campus leadership to align with campus and district goals and strengthen instructional practices.
- Communicate professionally with parents and guardians to support student achievement and strengthen home‑school partnerships.
- Fulfill all professional responsibilities, including lesson planning, supervision duties, documentation, and participation in professional learning aligned with campus priorities.
- Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment consistent with district policies, the Student Code of Conduct, and state safety requirements.
Qualifications:
- Hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Texas teaching certificate in English Language Arts and Reading (Grades 7–12) or applicable certification in accordance with Texas Education Code Chapter 21.
- Strong knowledge of secondary English Language Arts curriculum and instructional practices.
- Ability to facilitate literary analysis, writing development, and academic discussion.
- Effective classroom management and student engagement strategies.
- Skill in using formative and summative assessment data to guide instruction.
- Strong communication skills, professionalism, and collaboration.
New teachers and experienced educators are encouraged to apply.

Compensation: Salary and benefits are provided in accordance with the district compensation plan, board policy, and applicable Texas Education Code requirements.
