Master's Degree in the area of Bilingual and ESL preferred;
Bilingual Education/English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement, preferred
At least 5 years in the field of Bilingual Education.
Position Function/PurposeThe Dual Language Program Coordinator will provide leadership in the design, revision and implementation of the EL K-5 curriculum necessary to meet State and District instruction, providing highly focused, innovative, job embedded professional development to expand and/or enhance existing academic content instruction for dual language teachers.
Major Responsibilities- The program coordinator will facilitate the growth and development of the dual language immersion program while supporting staff within the school.
- First program standards and work with teachers, school leaders, and community members to uphold them.
- Register for Language First certification for yourself and teachers. All Language First training is provided by campus.
- Complete Language First certification.
- Check-in on Language First certification for teachers.
- Gather and rely on student data to facilitate teacher team meetings.
- Observe DLI teachers and provide feedback using Language First certification tools and reflection scales.
- Maintain regular contact with school leadership in order to communicate DLI specific concerns.
- Communicate consistent messaging with stakeholders using information in the resources for program leaders course/addalingua materials through newsletters, website educate stakeholders about Language First dual language immersion education.
- Hold teachers accountable to growth in attainment of the Language First standards and success indicators.
- Implement progress monitoring systems and allow it to inform program instructional decisions.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the BMIA Director.

- Knowledge of dual language immersion education
- Fluency in English and Spanish, both oral and written, is a must.
