Education and Experience
  • Education
  • ? High School Diploma or GED and/or 30 semester hours of an accredited college or university
  • ? Educational Aide Certificate from state of Texas

  • Responsibilities
  • Supervise students assigned to in-school suspension (ISS) for disciplinary reasons. Maintain a highly structured and orderly environment. Work under the general supervision of the principal and immediate direction of a certified teacher on a daily basis.
  • Work with certified teacher and campus administrators to create and maintain an orderly and highly structured environment.
  • Work with individual students to complete assignments given by classroom teacher.
  • Consult classroom teachers regarding student assignments.
  • Distribute, collect and check student assignments for accuracy.
  • Maintain individual files of completed student assignments and return to classroom teachers.
    6. Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Record student attendance and discipline referrals using computer.
  • Supervise students assigned to ISS during lunch and bathroom breaks.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Participate in staff development training program, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned. 11. All other duties as assigned by the principal and/or DAEP Teacher.
  • Qualifications and Requirements
  • Possess, or be willing to apply for, a TEA Educational Aide Certificate (personal expense)
  • Educational Aide certificate as established by the State Board for Educator Certification. The applicant for the educational aide certificate shall
  • hold a high school diploma, the equivalent of a high school diploma, or higher;
  • have satisfied one of the following requirements:
  • a. has three creditable years of experience, as defined in Chapter 153, Subchapter CC, of this title (relating to Commissioner's Rules on Creditable Years of Service), as either an educational aide I or II; b. has completed 30 semester credit hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or related subject areas;
  • 3.have experience working with students and parents as approved by the employing superintendent.
