Position: Child Care Provider I

POSITION: Child Care Provider I

EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt

NUMBER OF DAYS: According to district approved calendar

DEPARTMENT: Early Childhood

REPORTS TO: Principal, Child Care Director

SUPERVISES: None

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED

EXPERIENCE:

  • Early Childhood training and/or experience

Position Function/Purpose

The Child Care Provider shall work under the supervision of a certified child care director and shall assist the director in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Follow the directions of the Supervisor
  • Prepare and implement lesson plans
  • Assume responsibility for the care and safety of children
  • Follow child care licensing and Texas Rising Star requirements
  • Prepare materials and displays as directed
  • Completing 3 assessments a year and the development milestone checklist of the students in your class
  • Have the end of the year Parent/Teacher conferences
  • Actively engage with children and assist them in reaching their developmental milestones
  • Work in a cooperative manner with other providers and children
  • Assume responsibility for the care of equipment and teaching materials
  • Participate in in-service training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as needed
  • Provide orientation and assistance to substitutes
  • Change diapers
  • Assist with toileting children
  • Assist with measuring formulas and feeding children
  • Supervise children at rest and at play
  • Assist in updating daily sheets on Brightwheel App
  • Interact effectively with the public, staff, children, and parents
  • Cleaning and sanitizing of toys, counters, tables, chairs, cribs, and all other items that a child may come in contact with
  • All other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualification Requirements

  • Have visual acuity
  • Have acute hearing
  • Be able to lift at least 45 pounds
  • Demonstrate acceptable written and verbal skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Be able to keep up with crawling and walking children
  • Familiar with various office machines

Continue Education

  • For less than 2 years of experience you are required to have 24 hours of preservice training. 8 hours prior to entering a classroom in addition to the following:
  • 30 hours of annual continuing education training
  • CPR/First Aid every two years
  • Pass a Background Check and FBI Fingerprinting
